Basic Pie Dough

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- pinch of salt
- 1¼ cup butter, cut into pieces and chilled
- ½ cup ice water
- Combine the flour and salt in the mixer or processor. Add the butter and blend with dough attachments until pea-size nuggets are formed. Add the water all at once and continue to mix until the dough comes together.
- Pour dough onto plastic wrap. Wrap with plastic wrap and form into a disc. Refrigerate for at least an hour before rolling out.
