I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for ways to avoid going to the grocery store just for one item. So I’ve learned a few tricks that have saved me a trip many times and can help you as well.
You can essentially substitute buttermilk with milk of any kind; however, you won’t get the same flavor and texture. When I don’t have buttermilk on hand, I use whole milk at room temperature and add about 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to it. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and there you go, buttermilk. Super easy.
